AJ55YOO Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Galaxy bargain? This has got to be a scam! Or did the ar5e just drop out of the people carrier market? ;) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Stupid low price being sold by someone with feedback of 1, and that is for a Cosworth. Hmmm...... As a general rule, if it sounds to good to be true, then it is! Quote
greg_68 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Galaxy bargain? This has got to be a scam! Or did the ar5e just drop out of the people carrier market? ;) This is quite a strange reoccurrence on Ebay. There was a similar one in silver not so long ago buy it now price was the same. I contacted the seller who was registered in the USA and said the car was in Italy. The thing that I notice with a lot of dodgy looking sales is the "don't contact me through my Ebay e-mail addy as it is playing up" No contact through Ebay means no comeback when they have f***ed of with your money. You know the saying if it seems to good to be true it probably is.....well it is. edit damn you MM Quote
Quinten Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Definately a scam. Account has most likely been hijacked and therefore they need to use an external email address. Also, 3 day listing, which means that you barely have enough time to view the car before you bid. Just to see how far they are prepared to take it I emailed him: To: sean325i0@yahoo.co.ukSubject: 2003 FORD GALAXY GHIA 1.9L TDI BLUE on Ebay Hiya, Would it be possible to view the vehicle tonight or tomorrow? I'm just around the corner in Brighton, and can easily pop around. Thanks Quinten Ofcourse I'm nowhere near Brighton, but he doesn't know that ;) Quote
Quinten Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 It's only been 10 minutes  If I were to place any bets, it would be on that he doesn't reply at all... Quote

Quinten Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Because the unsuspecting victim of the account hijack probably originates from there. I can't wait till I get my Galaxy shipped from Milan though... you reckon it is more fashionable than one from Dagenham? Quote

greg_68 Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Similar is being polite, the main description is identical word-for-word! The boys from Lagos? Pity the poor peeps who actually fall for these scams send off their dosh........two weeks later......nowt I think Autoquake are a pukka dealers, they sell a lot of motors on Ebay. I would be interseted in contacting the buyer(if there is one) and asking what happened after the auction closed. I don't suppose they'd appreciate that tho. There really are some stupid people on Ebay.....who would not think that item was fishy? Some very unpolite people as well. Someone enquiring about my car bits on there yesterday just wrote "what condition are the doors in" no more no less, no hello or thanks. Guess they will never find out. Quote
Quinten Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Good spot MM (I may call you MM now, can I?) I don't think I can send a message to the highest bidder, so here's hoping eBay picks up my email before the auction closes edit: Actually, I was able to send a message to the highest bidder. Fingers crossed he doesn't get duped... Quote
mumof4 Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Good spot MM (I may call you MM now, can I?) I don't think I can send a message to the highest bidder, so here's hoping eBay picks up my email before the auction closes i have done that before..got a slap for it but it was worth it...i was watching an auction for a nintendo ds..didnt see all the way down at the bottom of the page in smallest letters that it was for a link till i went to bid on it!! so i emailed the highest bidder aswell as informing ebay..the highest bidder stopped bidding at that point and thanked me..it was worth it..the seller was doing it on all his auctions..some bids were as high as 670 quid..so i mailed them all..none of them had seen the sentance saying that it was only for a link.ebay didnt act in time(never do)but the seller was suspended after all his auctions had finished!! Quinten Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Just received the following from eBay: Hello, Thank you for your report. We have reviewed the user ID you have broughtto our attention and taken the appropriate action. Please be assured, if a violation of eBay policy has occurred, we will take the appropriate action in accordance with our site policies. Such action may include issuing a warning, temporary suspension, indefinite suspension or terminating the membership. Due to eBay's Privacy policy we are unable to provide information regarding the details of another user's account. Please remember that this is for theprotection of all eBay users. We appreciate your vigilance in helping us to keep eBay a safe place to trade. Not sure what that means as the auction is still going... BTW, If you look at the item revision and comments you can see that the vehicle was changed from a Sierra to a Galaxy on the 20th... That must have been when the unsuspecting seller got his account hacked. Quote
Quinten Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Line...? Quinten,I got your details and i will let ebay know about our deal and they will contact you shortly with all details you need! Please let me know when ebay will contact you!Thank youSean Ofcourse I have to reply... Grumpy Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Good work. The auction has been stopped. Quote
Quinten Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Sinker! Got an email from 'eBay member: AutoQuake' (yes, not only steal their auction details, but he is now also impersonating them) with the request to walk into a Western Union office and send Quote

Quinten Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 He still doesn't get it... quinten,ok you must to make the payment at Western Union in my name and address which you received from ebay.As soon as you have the payment done you will send me the paymet details and i will start the shipping in the same day or next day.You will receive the car with all documents at your home.I have to ask you one more thing, when you will go to western union to wire the money please don't tell them that this payment is for an auction because there are some additional fees for making comerce and i do not want to spend my money in this way...you can tell them that this payment is for a friend or relative! if you will do that from me i will send you the car as a "gift for a relative of mine" and you don't have to pay for any import taxes.Thank you for understanding and i'm waiting for your reply asapSean Any ideas on my next reply?
